Power Pros is pleased to have been selected by the Chevron Richmond Oil Refinery to perform the testing and commissioning of its Number 6 Substation.

This new substation was designed to replace an outdated substation that provided power to the same portion of the refinery.
The project included the testing and commissioning of a new 115 kV/12 kV GIS substation. Also included were 115 kV transmission lines, new 12 kV switchgear, new feeders; metering and control equipment that is compatible with future electrical management systems (EMS). Power Pros developed detailed test plans to prove the functionality of the design and completeness of the installation. The 115kV tie-ins were performed without disruption to refinery operations. The oil refinery was placed on single-line feed during the new substation energization phase; hence, the Power Pros team-work required focus and special attention to mitigate risk while executing the system testing and live cutovers.
